Couture for Cause is a newly launched non-profit organization driving positive change through fashion and inspire every woman to realize her highest self. Through fundraising events and global campaigns, they catalyze the fashion community and the industry's most influential figures and brands to create a better future for girls around the world. Working directly with the founder, I designed their complete brand identity and created a custom Squarespace website for launching the initiative.
Objective
The main goal of this project was to bridge the gap between philanthropy and high fashion. That unlikely marriage needed to work seamlessly in the design and encourage the target audience to "Look Good. Do Good." The founder requested that gold leaf be one of the signature elements as well.
Process
I started with the visual identity. Overall it needed an elevated look, and I wanted to symbolize the connection between haute fashion and non-profit impact. The "for" became the connecting piece, a hand-lettered script to weave the two other words together displayed in a humanist sans-serif. The color palette is sophisticated and versatile. A neutral foundation allows the metallic gold to shine without being gaudy.
I designed the website to have an editorial look making it feel somewhere between a high-end fashion magazine and an invite to a black-tie gala. The gold was used judiciously as a layering element to accentuate the imagery and key text.
Outcome
Working on this project was such an incredible journey with a fantastic group of creative collaborators. Couture for Cause began with a soft launch in the winter for 2019, with a full-scale launch coming early 2020.
